About this Session

Participants will engage with and reflect on a “Problem of Practice” from their school or district, thinking through which aspects are technical (solvable) and which are adaptive (complicated). Participants will leave with an actionable plan that pertains to their needs. During the session, we will watch a few videos defining adaptive vs. technical leadership, as defined by Ron Heifetz, then consider some of the myriad complications such as trust, beliefs, morale, and systems and structures. My objective is to broaden the perspective of those who think that their issues are purely technical, by facilitating a discussion that helps us understand the challenges and barriers to change management and leadership.
